| The
Grasslands: People, Places, and Culture |
| Lessons and
activities for the comparative study of three grassland regions of the world developed for
the elementary classroom. The regions include the North American Great Plains, the
Eurasian Steppe, and the African Savanna. These materials were developed by elementary
teachers who participated in curriculum-development workshops funded by the Colorado
Geography Education Fund and the National Geographic Society Education Foundation. Lessons
for four units are included in a three-ring binder. Cost of binder:

| Doing
History/Keeping the Past |
- Doing History DC-ROM Disks (available in both Mac and PC versions). The disks include
historical photographs, textual primary sources, and narrative relating to several topics
in Colorado history and to historic preservation. The topics now include Colorado Indians,
mining, farming and ranching, Colorado cities, and Colorado in the 20th century. Each of
these topics includes photos and primary sources relating to the themes of food, clothing,
and shelter; families and children; work and tools; cities and towns; community life; and
transportation. The cost of each CD-ROM is $10.00.

- In addition, the project has worked with several teams of elementary and middle grades
teachers to develop activities in which the students use the materials. These teachers
have also field-tested these activities with their own students. The cost of each of these
teacher's notebooks is $20.00, which includes a CD-ROM.
